about

Inspired by the infectious rhythms of Professor Longhair, Dr. John, and Allen Toussaint, this album captures the electrifying energy of a New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration. Raised in Louisiana, the music runs deep in my veins. Sweet Emma Barrett's melodies ignited my passion at a young age, and the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1973 solidified my destiny. Since then, my vocals, saxophone, and piano have carried me across the globe, sharing the magic of New Orleans music.

"Big Chief" channels the majestic spirit of the Mardi Gras Indians, your saxophone weaving through the powerful brass section.

"St. James Infirmary Blues" paints a poignant portrait of life in the city, your piano adding a touch of melancholic beauty.

But this is more than just a collection of familiar tunes. It's a sonic journey through the heart and soul of Mardi Gras. You'll hear the influence of my Louisiana roots, the echoes of Sweet Emma Barrett, and the spirit of Professor Longhair and Dr. John. It's a testament to my lifelong dedication to the music that shaped you, a celebration of your own artistic journey.

The album artwork bursts with vibrant colors and Mardi Gras imagery. Think ornate masks, glittering beads, and joyful faces bathed in the golden light of a street parade. It's a visual feast that complements the infectious energy of the music.

"Second Line Strut" is not just for Mardi Gras day. It's a celebration of life, joy, and the transformative power of music. It's a reminder that the spirit of New Orleans lives on, wherever you are in the world. So put on your dancing shoes, crank up the volume, and let the Mardi Gras Mambo take you away!

The album includes a few bonus tracks, a heartfelt original composition inspired by my own experiences with Mardi Gras.
