Lyrics I couldn't manage the problem I laid on myself And it just made it worse when I laid them on somebody else So I finally surrendered it all, brought down in despair I cried out for help and I felt a warm comforter there And I came to believe in a power much higher than I I came to believe that I needed help to get by In childlike faith, I gave in and gave Him a try And I came to believe in a power much higher than I Nothing worked out when I handled it all on my own And each time I failed, it made me feel twice as alone Then I cried, "Lord there must be a surer and easier way For it just cannot be that a man should lose hope everyday" And I came to believe in a power much higher than I I came to believe that I needed help to get by In childlike faith I gave in and gave Him a try Then I came to believe in a power much higher than I Yes, I came to believe in a power much higher than I Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Johnny R. [Chorus 1:] Jesus, You're the center of my joy, all that's good and perfect comes from You. You're the heart of my contentment, hope for all I do; Jesus, You're the center of my joy. [Verse 1:] When I've lost my direction, You're the compass for my way, You're the fire and light when nights are long and cold. In sadness, You are the laughter, that shatters all my fears, when I'm all alone, Your hand is there to hold. [Chorus 1] [Verse 2:] You are why I find pleasure in the simple things in life, You're the music in the meadows and the streams. The voices of the children, my family, and my home, You're the source and finish of my highest dreams. [Chorus 2:] Jesus, You're the center of my joy, all that's good and perfect comes from You. You're the heart of my contentment, hope for all I do... [Vamp:] Jesus, You are the center of my joy. [Ending:] Jesus, You are the center of my joy, joy, joy, of my joy.

about

This Album is a compilation of various Gospel Recordings I've done since the 90s. I've always had a strong connection to Gospel music, growing up in Mississippi and Alabama, singing in the Choir, and later on, playing Hammond Organ in a Black Church in Oakland CA. Most of my favorite artists honed their chops in Church as young people. My upbringing was a white Methodist Church in the Deep South, but all around me were the voices of Soul, Gospel Choirs, Quartets. The birthplace of Aretha Franklin was a 5 minute walk from the home of my Grandmother in Memphis. On Friday nights, we could go to my high school auditorium in Monroe Louisiana, and hear the great white Gospel groups, like the Stamps, Imperials. You can hear different influences on these recordings, like the orchestration of Randy Newman on "That'll Do", Celtic Influence on "Come Fount of Every Blessing". the COGIC piano inspired piano of Billy Preston and Ray Charles. I've performed this music in much of the world, on TV shows and sold out concerts in the US and Canada, and Gospel Choir Workshops in Europe, where this music is immensely popular.

I'll be starting my first Gospel Tour of Spain, on December 8, on a 9 city tour, with my group, the Gospel Messengers, with some of the greatest singers, and musicians on the Spanish Roots music scene.
