here’s a fire burning too hot to touch Making my wheels turning, make a young girl Just a love addiction, causing to much friction Just a little kiss, got me in a mess like this Too much of a good thing ain’t never enough Once you get a little taste of that ooh la la Love that powerful Stuff The politics of passion, making front page news Saxophone and ho-monica, blowing more than the blues She was so young and willing Got the spin doctors wheelin and dealin, just a little late night oral dictation Couldn't filibuster the bill

Sorry Shade of Blue Lyrics: Chris Caswell, Kazz Song Inc. Music: John Lee Sanders, Swampmeister Music, ASCAP I’m in a sorry, sorry shade of blue I’m feeling sorry for myself And what I’m going through I tried to change my outlook I tried to change my ways Still I dance my darkest dances When the music starts to play I’m in a sorry shade of blue Addicted to the reckless things I do And what was once wrong or right Is no longer black and white I’m in a sorry shade of blue You know sometimes my eyes are open wide And then I make up my mind to get off this ride Before I know it, I start to blow it I’m climbing back onboard And my eyes are closed to common sense And I’ve got the pedal floored Chorus It’s so obvious, the life I lead Is in now way shape or form Connected to the life I lead You know I party much to hearty To cover up my fears ‘Til one day, there’s no way back And I’ll just disappear chorus

No man’s a Free Man You can smoke a cigarette But you can’t smoke a joint The legal one will kill you I just don’t see the point It’s against the law to kill yourself If you try and fail Does some judge give you life By throwing you in jail Oh it’s all so phony, a sober testimony No man’s a free man You can sell or buy a gun Raise a little hell But if you’re selling sex You’re gonna wind up in a cell The helmet must be worn The seat belt buckled tight The choice should be your own But you haven’t got the right Oh it’s oh so phony, a sober testimony No man’s a free man We’re all created equal, so the Bible say Still the bookie gets arrested While the lottery’s ok Devil’s gonna get you If you’re living in sin If you’re living on the street lord It’s the cops who take you in Oh it’s oh so phony A sober testimony No man’s a free man A man can get married But not to another man Poor man can’t afford the tax But a rich one can You can throw away your mattress When it’s outlived it’s time Rip off the tag, you committed a crime Oh it’s oh so phony A sober testimony No man’s a free man

about

It's all Blues was recorded at Red Rooster Studio in Berkeley, CA, 1998, at Garth Webber's studio, (Garth replaced Robben Ford in the Miles Davis Band, and is one of the greats of the West Coast Blues Artists)
with my great band from the San Francisco Bay Area. I was a pretty active session player during this time, on keyboards, and as a horn arranger almost every week with great artists, such as Zigaboo from the Meters, Dr. John, David Raitt, brother of Bonnie Raitt, Chris Cain, Robben Ford. These are all original tracks. "Foreclose On the House of Love", originally recorded on this Cd, was covered by Marcia Ball, in 2004, for her CD, "So Many Rivers", which was nominated for Blues Song of the Year, and the hit single which won her the Grammy for 2004
